Serial Com Port Logger
Capture and log all serial port dataflows

RS232 Data Logger allows you to redirect all communication data from RS232 compliant serial port device into a text file for further analysis. RS232 Data Logger redirects data from any available serial port (doesn't matter whether it is virtual or real one) and works on virtual machines too. You can gather data from multiple serial ports simultaneously. RS232 Data Logger is an absolutely FREE Open Source application, which means you can freely use it, study, change and improve.
Thinking about integrating our functionality into your own industry-specific solution?
Our Port Virtualization Technology is just what you need. Thousands of successful companies worldwide have already experienced the undeniable benefits and advantages of powering their software and hardware products with our advanced technology.

Common objectives and our solutions

Track serial dataflow changes

RS232 Data Logger has a simple interface, so to begin serial logging you just need to select the serial port, choose where to file serial communication data, define COM port's parameters, and click "start". Logs in the text file will represent all details about serial port communications and RS232 dataflow. For instance, RS232 Data Logger can parse global positioning data (coordinates) from GPS device connected to your notebook to track your movement.

Pick up general information on serial communication

RS232 Data Logger can be installed and used on Virtual Machines; VMware, ESX, Citrix XenDesktop, Microsoft Hyper-V, Windows Virtual PC are supported. Such functionality can be successfully used for testing. Our serial port logger is great for learning purposes, too. It traces serial port state in real time and collects precise data about real RS232 connection and serial dataflow exchange in your system. This gives real life examples of how connection between any serial port and applications establishes and how it develops. With RS232 Data Logger it's simple to see and learn how serial ports work!

View total bytes in file/bytes received from port

RS232 Data Logger lets you select communication parameters to match serial port you want to log. Out serial logger gives you options for defining baudrate settings, stop bits, number of bits to transmit, parity checking, and flow control types. RS232 Data Logger always displays real-time information about data received from the selected port and total bytes in the logging file respectively. This information is useful to check whether the communication data is correctly logged.
